More Houstonians Want to Live in Mixed Use Communities

More Houston area residents want to live in areas where they can walk to shops and restaurants and to work. The latest study from the Kinder Institute at Rice University shows that 56 percent of Houstonians want to live in the mixed use communities instead of developments consisting only of single family homes. That's up from 50 percent in a previous survey.

Younger people in particular don't want to drive long distances to work and play, said Steven Klinberg on the Houston Newsmaker's Sunday show.

Traffic is considered the number one problem in Houston, according to the people surveyed. That's the third year in a row that survey participants have said that traffic is a bigger problem than crime.
