Super Moon Highlights Houston's Museum District. Want to Live Among the Arts?
I was in the Museum District Monday night and snapped a couple of pictures of the Super Moon over St. Paul's Methodist Church. The church is across the street from the Museum of Fine Arts and one block from The Contemporary Arts Museum. The Children's Museum, the Holocaust Museum and the Health Museum and the Asia Society Museum are all just a few blocks away.
Home prices in the Museum District vary depending on whether you are close to the major museums and in the West University/South Hampton area (generally up to around $2 million and sometimes as much as $7 million) or if you're in the Midtown or Montrose area with prices starting at about $300,000. The area has seen a surge of condominiums in the last five to ten years. There also has been much apartment construction in the area in the last five years so you have many rental opportunities as well as condominium buildings from which to choose. The area around Midtown tends to have more apartments, townhomes and condominiums rather than houses. The area around the major museums (MFA, CAMF) has more single family homes with lush lawns and some very high end gated communities on the west side of the Museum of Fine Arts. The new mix of condos and apartments in the museum district is largely located on the east side of the MFA.
The core museum district and the surrounding areas also have a multitude of other museums and art galleries. If you'd like more information on museums in Houston click on the link below:

In addition to galleries and museums, this area also is home to the Houston Zoo and to the Texas Medical Center.
