A new study shows that fixer-uppers listings have increased by 96 percent and high end fixer-uppers have increased 157 percent in the last five years.
Zillow reports that the trend allows more sellers to sell their homes as-is.
While some people like a turn-key home, others want to be able to put their own personal stamp on the property without having to handle an entire build-out of a new home. In addition, a seller's idea of what changes and updates will attract buyers can differ from what the buyer actually wants. One person might like a kitchen re-done in perky, bright colors, but it might look like an Easter egg nightmare to another.
